The story of Le Tripot d’Edmonde
Le Tripot d’Edmonde is the online extension of Les Folies d’Edmonde, a cocktail bar in Vieux-Nice that opened in May 2022, set in a 17th-century vaulted cellar. When regulars asked how to keep their whist sharp between visits, we built them a place online. This is the house: two games at the table — Chinese Checkers (a classic board game) and Oh Hell (Whist), both available solo against AI or multiplayer between friends.
Why this project?
Because the web lacked a version of Oh Hell that took both the game and the player seriously. We wanted a place where you could play a full game, in eight languages, without signup, without intrusive tracking, and where you’d find a bit of the bar’s voice — sober, warm, never chatty.
Our commitment
- No mandatory account. You can play immediately, without an email or password.
- No ads, no profiling trackers. The site shows no advertising and sells no data.
- No abrupt interruptions. No full-screen interstitial cutting a game, no notification pop-up, no "5 seconds before the game continues".
- Respectful code. Installable PWA, no intrusive notifications, clear consent for the rare things that need it.
Come play in person
From 6 pm, a game table often opens at Les Folies d’Edmonde: whist is the main game, with Chinese Checkers now and then. The bar is open every day from 6 pm to 12:30 am, at 16 rue Benoît Bunico in Old Nice. If you book, write “game table” in your request.
